it’s x-mas time and it’s this soul-warming time of the year. hot chocolate and shit.
I’ve been reflecting lately, my spartan ultra gave me 50 mountainous kilometers to think about stuff. billionaire stuff mostly.
I was taking souls during that race, and thought to myself, “man that’s cruel”, you should be happy jolly nicy to these people, like in my past races. But my primal self realized this was beta behavior. A beta that’s timid, and hiding behind niceties, hiding from the fact that I wasn’t placing in top positions and performing well. As this is my #1 goal in the present. See the full race experience here.
This has been a pattern in my business life too. Paying employees that sometimes ate as much as 70% of my profit margins. Always being kind to them, even if they underperformed and still asked to be paid. Supporting modern mass lobotomy basically.
Always been the good guy with high EQ. That’s what corporate nonsense book has taught us. The authors of these always do well btw. Selling “feel good”.
Hypocrite billionaires that made it to the top also teach EQ, after being the most ruthless in the jungle. Standing on their MOAT, they’re trying to tell us to be heart-centered and stuff. Sells well, nice PR. But these philosophies do not get much traction on the terrain to billions.
What’s untold by most alphas that fear society’s judgement, is that winning over someone feels good. Not to have them loose, but just to pass someone by in a race feels amazing. And that should be the goal sometimes: to chase something, to chase someone.
So much for staying in your own lane. Patrick Bet David’s book is “choose your enemies wisely” and that’s no mistake. There’s power in taking souls and chopping empathy off. There are times for empathy, and the battlefield is no place for that.
As I was looking at the foggy light in the sauna the other day, I thought this truth to myself: Wall Street savages try to be as ruthless as legally possible in the market. They take home other’s meals and won’t feel bad about it. The goal at first is to make it, to live the wealth. Then, only once you’ve excelled in that field, does it get easier to share pieces of the pie. That’s what Alexander the Great did, that’s what Genghis did. Many will dispute their usefulness on this Earth, but isn’t nature the best judge of that?
This was a different point of view from most of what’s thought nowadays. Maybe it could be useful, maybe it could be offensive. At least it’s out, and it’s another piece of data you can either use as a weapon or throw in the trash.
PS a reminder that I believe that wealth and power are the fastest way to positive, sustainable change on this planet Earth. Not words and pacific protests.
Adam Grant has written extensively on Give & Take and who comes out best. Ironically it's givers who learn how to match and create a fair exchange of value - not the takers - that succeed.

It's not about testosterone or estrogen either. It's about realising the interconnectivity of everything and how we all rely on each other to survive and thrive. I wrote about this in a chapter called the moral case for gratitude in my book on Gratitude: https://www.barrett.com.au/blogs/2021/7558/gratitude/world-gratitude-day-the-moral-case-for-gratitude-especially-in-uncertain-times/
The one king/leader approach is what the far right want - they want authoritarianism not democracy. Read Robert Reich: https://robertreich.substack.com/p/the-new-axis-of-evil
I don't want to be subjugated and told how to live my life by misogynistic men who want to take away women's rights to choose and how we live our lives; same with LGBTQI community and other minorities. I want to embrace diversity and live with others working for the common good.
Democracy is not perfect but its the fairer model for all and we have to work hard to keep it going or else something far worse takes its place. The Politics Girl has some great content: https://www.youtube.com/@PoliticsGirl
I do not subscribe to your views in this post. We only have to look at COP28 to see that the fossil fuel billionaires and states have no desire to use their power and wealth to generate positive sustainable change for this planet. They take away competition by locking everything up for themselves. Which is why you might like to read this article by George Monbiot on why certain very rich people don't care about the living planet, or even, in some cases, their own children. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/nov/29/cop28-billionaires-blocking-action-save-planet-protest
Building on this, there are those who work in partnership with a range of dubious people and organisations to further their wealth and power. Here is a detailed synopsis of how big money libertarians & Christo nationalism are destroying democracies around the world & looking to take away our democratic rights as well. https://chrysstevenson.com/2023/12/05/christian-dominionism-follow-the-money/
Those billionaires with an empathy by-pass keep rorting the system for personal gain which has gotten us into this dreadful situation in the first place. They have no desire to work for the common good which is why this work is left to the rest of us who are NOT pacifist protesters but grassroots community activtists who have and are mobilising to bring about real change in how we live and work and do democracy. I have first hand experience having lead 4 such initiatives in the past 3 years with success. Which is why you might like to read this too: http://www.auswhn.org.au/blog/our-quest-for-goldstein/
Until we stop striving to be billionaires and instead look at how we can work together to create mutually prosperous societies that value collaboration, decent work and wages, integrity, equality and real climate action we will be held hostage by the corrupt few who game the system where winner takes all - except in this dystopian version there won't be much left to take because these billionaires and their vested interests will have ruined it for everyone. How dumb is that?
